Stress Incontinence

Stress Incontinence is the leaking of urine when you Cough, Sneeze, Laugh or Jump.

The Pelvic Floor muscles can be so weak that they are not able to control the leaking of urine. This may be a small squirt or a flood.

When there is an increase in abdominal pressure or sudden jolting movements the pelvic floor muscles must be strong enough to prevent leaking.

CAUSES

  • Frequently after the trauma of childbirth the pelvic floor muscles are very swollen and weak.
  • Pre menopausal/Menopausal women experience quite dramatic changes in their bladder function.
This occurs because of the reduced levels of oestrogen and results in weakening of Pelvic Floor muscle strength.

  • History
  • Bladder Retraining
